It’s Finally Come Home!
After 56 years, football has finally come home and this time it was the breathtaking and inspirational Lionesses to conquer the Women’s Euro 2022 and claim their trophy at Wembley. Concluding an intense and entertaining final against Germany’s Women’s national team, Chloe Kelly decided the match with a last stitch goal in the 110th-minute. That extra push of her determination helped England secure its first major trophy in 56 years.
The match was not only historic due to its stakes being a European final, but also because of its record-breaking attendance. Wembley Stadium recorded 87,192 attendees making history and elevating Women’s Football to a new level. This showed how much women’s football has increased in terms of its views and overall entertainment.

Match Review:
The match itself was back and forth the full 90 minutes, both England and Germany were there to prove a point and it showed as it was all level in the first half, with both teams going neck and neck at each other. Even though Germany was missing its captain and top scorer, Alexandra Popp, after suffering a muscular problem moments before kick-off, did not affect the team's morale as they kept their heads up and gave it all they got.
The second half was where the game intensified, the Lionesses opened their account on the scoresheet as Ella Toone scored a fabulous goal in the 62nd minute, getting past Kathrin Hendrich and chipping Merle Frohms giving her no chance to save it. Moments later Germany did have an attempt but it hit the crossbar and the rebound was saved which added to the overall pressure of the game.
Their efforts were not lost, as in the 79th minute a tremendous effort and goal by Lina Magus got the Die Nationalelf on level terms with the Lionesses and brought the game to a 1-1 draw until they proceeded into extra time. The first period of extra time gave the most stunning moment as Chloe Kelly tapped it in, in the 110th minute leading the England Women’s National Football team to the winner's medal of the Euro 2022, at home in the prestigious stadium Wembley.

Conclusion:
As history was made, the Lionesses did what the Lions could not do the year prior after losing in penalties against Italy in the Men's Euro 2020 final. This brought the end to a wonderful campaign by the England women’s National Football team and all the credit goes to the efforts of the squad as well as the coach Sarina Wiegman who worked rigorously and her efforts finally came to fruition. A big congratulations to the Lionesses for creating history and inspiring every young girl who hopes to one day make it to the grand stage herself.
