How to stay entertained during quarantine: Sports fan edition

(Stephen A. Smith/Twitter)

Currently, all sports around the globe have been put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Sports fans everywhere are looking for any sort of sports related content right now. Lucky for you, I have a few sports websites, podcasts and channels you should check out to get that little drop of sports in your life.

GQ Sports

(GQ Sports/Youtube)

I only discovered GQ Sports recently on Youtube, but wow! I love their content. The channel has been open for 12 years, despite only having one video between 2008 to 2013. Over the last three to four years, their content has been top notch. Some of the best athletes in the world have appeared on their channel: Roger Federer, James Harden, Serena Williams, Steph Curry, Wayne Gretzky, Connor McDavid and so many more. I enjoy watching “10 things (athlete) can’t live without”, “How (athlete) spent their first $1 million” and athletes breaking down movies. They have really been pushing content the last year and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for the future. Fans of any sport will enjoy videos from GQ Sports.

BarDown

(Bardown Squad/Bardown.com)

Most hockey fans and Canadians know the BarDown squad from TSN. The BarDown crew is always bringing exciting ideas to the TSN Youtube channel and BarDown website. Whether I am watching Jesse Pollock scream “LETS GOOOOO!” on a Quiz or see the BarDown hockey team do a crazy challenge in a beer league game, I seem to always find myself glued to the screen for hours watching their videos. Their Instagram is always providing great sports related videos and their website has articles and videos as well. Give BarDown a look, even though most of you probably have.

Spittin Chiclets

(Barstool Sports)

Not a big deal!!!!!! This one is for my hockey fans. If you ever played competitive hockey in your life or have been a fan of the game for years, Spittin Chiclets is the podcast for you. Former NHL players Ryan Whitney and Paul Bissonnette (Biznasty) co-host the hockey related show alongside the Rear Admiral, produced by Mike Grinell. Each week the boys have different topics they discuss, like the what happened over the weekend in the NHL or Biz conveniently going to the bathroom when the bill comes (sorry Biz). They have different hockey players on the pod nearly every week. Some guests include Cam Neely, Auston Matthews, Connor McDavid, Jack Eichel, Sidney Crosby, Nathan Mackinnon and hundreds of more beauties. Chiclets fans love slamming Pink Whitneys and listening to Keith Yandle say “SONK”. For hours upon hours of the best podcast on the internet, go check out Spittin Chiclets by Barstool Sports.

First Take

(ESPN Pressroom)

There was absolutely no way I could tell my fellow sports fans to not tune into First Take. Stephen A. Smith is the man and he loves to debate sports, even when there is no sports going on. You can still tune in every week day to hear Stephan A. go at it with Max Kellerman and whoever else is appearing on the show that day. There is a lot of NFL content on First Take right now because they are pretty much the only league that is able to do anything right now. They still try to keep everything fresh though. They recently had NHL defenceman P.K. Subban on the show and they bring up basketball often. To be completely honest, I would tune in just to see Stephen A. say talk because that man is hilarious but at the same time, one of the best journalists/analysts in the business. Turn on ESPN if you’re in the states and watch First Take. If you’re not in the U.S. they got you covered on the Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.

There are still many more places where you can get all the sports content that is available to us at the moment. Sportsnet, TSN, ESPN and many more networks are airing reruns of different games. Youtube always has somebody for you to watch.
