Chicago White Sox: ALCS Bound
Chicago has loaded up this offseason and is poised to run the American League this year. Liam Hendriks and Adam Eaton were awesome signings for this team and should make a great impact on an already solid team. They should win this division handily and push into at least the ALCS to make a strong case as one of the League's best contenders going forward. The future is bright in Chicago. Well, for the White Sox anyway.
Cleveland Baseball Team: Instantly regret the Lindor trade
Cleveland enters this year after basically cleaning the house with a rebuild on the horizon. Which obviously led to the Fransisco Lindor trade with the New York Mets. In return, Cleveland got two infielders for the now in Ahmed Rosario and Andres Gimenez and two players for the future, right-hander Josh Wolfe and OF Isaiah Greene. Greene, in my opinion, will be the best part of this deal (62 on MLB.com’s top prospects) but Cleveland could have done way better. For one of the best shortstops in the game for a rebuilding franchise who is looking for a new name and new identity, they should have committed. More prospects, higher talent, more potential would’ve been a win for them.
Detroit Tigers: Torkelson plays most of the season, makes a bid for ROTY
With the first overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft, the Detroit Tigers select Spencer Torkelson from Arizona State University. The 21-year old first baseman/outfielder will most likely make this rebuilding team out of camp and will make a strong case for Rookie of the Year in the AL. Under the mentorship of Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera, Torkelson has all the potential, mentorship, and resources around him to lead him to a great first season and career.
Kansas City Royals: Finish Third in AL Central
To be honest what is Kansas City going into this season? They have some decent pieces with decent potential but they can’t decide if they are still in rebuilding mode or going to compete. While this might not be a bold take, I think the Royals finish third in this division and kind of sit as the middle team in this group. It’ll be interesting to see which direction they go in the coming years.
Minnesota Twins: Finally win a playoff game
Minnesota has been on the edge of glory over the past few years but still hasn’t broken their 18-game losing streak in the playoffs. This will be the year they finally do the thing. While they won’t win the division, they will still be a competitive team that will finish in a wildcard spot most likely. With the solid additions of Andrelton Simmons at SS and J.A. Happ in the back-half of the rotation, this team should be finally able to get over the hump as long as they stay healthy.
